Making cakes - My Team

This week our under 18's group started their new project, the first stage is called My Team. This involved doing a a tran building session and we had lots of idea's but settled on making cakes.

We went down to the old library in west norwood to use their space and cake making machines. We then sat together and decorated our cakes.

The group then set up a a stall to sell the cakes to other members of the old library youth club.

The group loved making and decorating the cakes and the process brought them together as a team.

Setting up the Tuck Shop

This week we set up our own tuck shop. We went out and got lots of different things to sell.

The group had to decide on how much to sell the items for.

We chose a couple of people to take charge and serve the rest of the group.
This meant they had to work out costings and how much change to give back.
They also had to make the hot chocolates we were selling.

The group really enjoyed the new tuck shop, as it has lots of variety and the chance to have hot drinks is great on these cold nights.

The tuck shop should be a great tool for the young people to work on their money management and customer service skills.

The group did really well setting up and organising the tuck shop!
All profits will go towards new resources for the youth club.

Youth Club is back!

We started off the term with some great news that the kind people at Garfield and Weston foundation are going to be supporting the Rathbone youth club this year. This will enable us to carry on providing a much needed youth service for young people with learning disabilities across the borough of Lambeth.

So everyone at Rathbone youth club is saying a massing thankyou to Garfield and Weston.

Everyone was really happy to be back at club and catch up with all their friends. The aim of this week was to relax and socialise with each other .
We opened our own tuck shop to help our young people learn more about money management. The hope is that the tuck shop will self sustainable and naturally fund itself.

We had a table football competition.

We also made some get well cards for one of our members who isn't very well at the moment. We hope that she gets better soon because we all miss her at club!
